A new easy-read book club launched by Ilersis

Nace un nuevo club de lectura fácil impulsado por Ilersis

In July, Fundació Privada Ilersis launched the first phase of its easy-read book club. It is an initiative that aims to promote access to reading and cultural participation among people with disabilities or reading difficulties.

The project got under way after the team took part in a training course organised by DINCAT on setting up and running easy-read book clubs, which provided the tools to create a space for adapted, inclusive and shared reading.

The club's first meeting took place on Monday 7 July and served as a starting point for defining:

  • The Biblioteca Pública de Pardinyes (Pardinyes Public Library), as a partner venue.
  • The internal organisation, so that the way the club works (frequency of sessions, facilitation, choice of books…) can be decided on a participatory basis.
  • Coordination with the Asociación de Lectura Fácil (Easy Reading Association), which will provide advice and technical support.

From September, the club will begin regular shared reading sessions in which members will discuss adapted books written in clear language and with a simple structure. The calendar of activities, the first book selected and the participation criteria are expected to be announced soon.

With this initiative, Fundació Privada Ilersis reaffirms its commitment to inclusion, accessibility and the right to culture for all.
