We are a non-profit organisation rooted in Lleida.
But we are also something harder to define: a social and productive ecosystem where more than 700 professionals with disAbilities or at risk of exclusion work, create, produce and compete in the job market.
Where we come from
What is today a leading organisation was born in 1975 out of a decision as simple as it was revolutionary: fourteen families in Lleida refused to accept that the future of people with disAbilities was already written. They did not wait for the world to change; they started changing it themselves.
At that point the first paths towards independence were traced through therapeutic and social intervention services, setting up day activity centres, residential homes and the first employment alternatives through a Special Employment Centre.
As this work grew, the project consolidated and in 2013 was formally constituted as a Foundation, with the firm purpose of securing and giving continuity to all its care, housing and employment work for people with intellectual disAbilities or at risk of social exclusion.
This constant evolution brings us to 2023, the year the organisation took a major step forward by opening its new workplace in the Camí dels Frares industrial estate, a state-of-the-art site that today houses all our carpentry and contract handling work.
Fifty years after that first step, it is that same founding drive that gives meaning to every project and every partnership today. A legacy built day by day with craft, pride and a very particular way of understanding work: doing it well so that it also does good.
We currently work with more than 700 people and over 1,000 families are connected to the organisation.
Fundació Privada Ilersis is committed to the European Union's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Examples of this commitment are the investments in environmental improvements and energy efficiency made at our new industrial unit in the Camí dels Frares estate.
Among others, we have installed photovoltaic panels, a sustainable climate control system that reduces environmental impact and a new extraction system that improves safety and minimises dust released outdoors.
