Activa Ilersis uses robotics as a learning tool

Activa Ilersis utiliza la robótica como herramienta de aprendizaje

The organisation is embracing new methodologies to help young people in care and care leavers access the labour market

Activa Ilersis, the training area of Fundació Privada Ilersis, has introduced robotics as a learning tool in the programme “Actívate: de las competencias a la ocupación” (Get active: from skills to employment). In April, young people in care and care leavers took part in a session focused on programming robots to work on and improve their personal and professional skills.

Through this activity, the students developed skills such as teamwork, communication, creativity and problem-solving in a practical, participatory setting.

This commitment to robotics is not new. Last year, Fundació Privada Ilersis collaborated with the Centre d’Iniciatives per a la Reinserció (CIRE) on a training project that combined educational robotics, gamification and careers guidance with the aim of improving the employability of young people serving custodial sentences.

Fostering autonomy

The main aim of the programme is to foster the autonomy and personal development of young people in care and care leavers. Activa Ilersis provides personalised support and the tools they need to build their own life plans with confidence and security.

Experience in real-world settings

Finally, the work placements or “job tasters” offer a highly valuable practical experience in which young people can explore different fields of work according to their interests. This stage allows them to develop core skills, such as responsibility, punctuality and commitment, as well as skills specific to each trade, helping them to better plan their working future.

With initiatives such as this, Fundació Privada Ilersis, through Activa Ilersis, reaffirms its commitment to training people to be more autonomous and better prepared to successfully meet the challenges of adult life.
